Description

Folios: 421-421v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter F. Grant.

First party: Alan, son of Gilbert son of Huk de Sumercotes [Somercotes].

Second party: Philip Galle of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: The whole land which Alan had with appurtenances between the common way on the east side and Hunderfure on the west side, and it abuts towards the south upon Hunderfure, which lies between the fee of Ormesby [Ormsby] and Cokerinton [Cockerington], and towards the north upon Hunderfure, which leads to the sea. And a moiety of all dunes, namely those lying on the south side between the common way on the west side and the sea on the east side, and abutting towards the south upon le Hunderfure, and towards the north upon the land of Lawrence Malebrank, with all appurtenances and with free entry and exit. Also 3d of annual rent to be received on the eve of Pentecost from Lawrence Malebrank of Sumercotes [Somercotes] and his heirs; and one goose on the feast-day of All Saints, to be received from Lawrence and his heirs. And one bushel of salt to be received yearly at Martinmas from Lawrence and his heirs in the same fee of Cockerington. Which rent he was accustomed to pay to Alan at those terms. And the whole service which pertains to that tenement he holds of Alan. To hold to Philip and his heirs freely, quietly, in fee and inheritance of the lord of the fee, paying 18d yearly to the lords of the fee at Pentecost, two geese at the feast-day of All Saints, and seven bushels of salt at Martinmas, for all services, secular customs and demands.
