Description

Folio: 421. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter F. Agreement.

First party: John, son of Peter de Wyum, and Peter, his father.

Second party: Philip Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: John and Peter received forty marks from Philip out of the sixty marks which Philip owed to John for the toft and chief croft, and other tofts, crofts, lands, tenements, rents and all kinds of services and liberties pertaining to that land in the vill and territory of Cokerinton [Cockerington] with appurtenances which Philip has by the gift of John in the vill and territory of that vill. The abbot of Parco Lud [Louth Park] is to have the rest of those sixty marks in custody, namely twenty marks to be delivered to John and Peter or their heirs at Martinmas next following or any any hour before the appointed term, if it happens that John and Peter or their heirs make suitable acquittance and security to the use of Philip and his heirs, and they are to make security to Philip or his heirs for the debt of the king of from Jews or from any other fine made against anyone else, for which that land was previously bound to the king or Jews, or anyone else, etc. [Further details given].
