Description

Folios: 420-420v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter F. Grant.

First party: William, son of William de Redburn [Redbourne].

Second party: Philip, son of Odo Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: 4½ bovates of land together with two tofts in Cokeringthon [Cockerington], of which one toft lies between the land of John le Vavasur [Vavasour] on the west side and the land of Richard le Waleys on the east side, and it abuts upon the way towards the south; and the other other lies between the land of John le Vavasur on the south side and the land of Richard le Waleys on the north side, and it abuts upon the way called Kirkegate towards the east; and with a moiety of the toft, croft and buildings which Richard Wudecoc once held from William in Cockerington; and with a moiety of Richard himself, his following and chattels, with all easements, liberties and appurtenances, in fields, meadows, pastures, pasturages, ways, paths and in all other places within the vill and outside, fully and entirely and without any reservation. For his homage and service. For fifty marks which Philip gave to William in advance in his very great need. To hold to Philip, his heirs and assigns of William and his heirs freely, peacefully, in fee and inheritance, paying 4d yearly to William and his heirs at the feast of St Botolph for all services, suits of courts, customs and exactions.
