Description

Folio: 417v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: Philip Galle of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Thomas le Norne of Skydebroc [Skidbrooke].

Place or subject: A moiety of one toft with buildings thereon in a place called Meles, lying between the land of John son of Wlfinne and the land of Adam de [blank] on the north side, the sides of which towards the east abut upon the sea and towards the west upon the way. For five marks of silver which Thomas gave to Philip in advance. To hold to Thomas and his heirs in tail of Philip and his heirs freely, quietly, peacefully and in inheritance, paying yearly to Philip and his heirs one halfpenny at Michaelmas for all secular services, exactions, customs, suits of courts and demands. If it happens that Thomas dies without heirs in tail, then the toft will freely revert to Philip and his heirs without impediment or opposition from the heirs or assigns of Thomas.
