Description

Folio: 416v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: Ralph Horneys of Germetorpp [Grainthorpe].

Second party: Philip Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: One toft with houses built there and appurtenances lying in the territory of Schitebroc [Skidbrooke] at the dunes next between Philip's land on the north side and the land which was of Roger the chaplain on the south side, and abutting towards the east upon the sea and towards the west upon the royal way; and one croft, surrounded by a ditch, with appurtenances lying in the same territory next to le Sedick at Saltcotesumris, which abuts towards the south upon the land of William, son of Andrew de Summ' [Somercotes] and towards the north upon the common street; and whatever could fall to John after the death of John son of Wluifhe in services, customs and in all other things within the vill of Schitebroc [Skidbrooke] and outside, without any reservation. For 100s which Philip gave to John in advance. To hold to Philip and his heirs freely, quietly, peacefully, in fee and inheritance, paying 6d yearly to the hospital of St John of Mauteby [Maltby] at Michaelmas for all services, secular customs, suits of courts and demands.
