Description

Folio: 416. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: John, son of Walter son of Rocelin de Wyberton of Holandie [Holland], with the advice and assent of Emma, his wife, and his heirs.

Second party: Peter, son of Odo Galle.

Place or subject: Eleven selions of arable land with appurtenances lying in the territory of Little Charleton [Little Carlton] on the south side of the vill, of which selions two lie at Asserwallis next between Peter's land on the west side and the land of Walter de Asfortby on the east side; four selions lie at Braddemarrys next between Peter's land on the west side and Walter's land on the east side; one selion lies at Bracheuillis next between Peter's land on the north side and the land of William Future on the south side; one selion abuts upon the land of Robert de Saddewrdh, and two selions abut upon Hicelmarille, and lie next between the land of John de Carleton [Carlton] on the south side and the land of John de Cormayles [Cormeilles] on the north side; and one half-acre of meadow with appurtenances lying in Thunderling next between Peter's meadow and the meadow of Walter de Asfortby. Without any reservation, for a certain sum of money which Peter gave to John in advance. To hold to Peter and his heirs of John and his heirs freely, quietly, peacefully, in fee and inheritance, paying 4d yearly to John and heirs 4d at four terms of the year, namely 1d at each of the feasts of Christmas, St Botolph, Michaelmas [and Easter], for all services, secular customs, suits of courts and demands, excepting foreign service and suit of the wapentake court pertaining to that land.
