Description

Folio: 415. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: John, son of Walter de Wiberton [Wyberton] of Holandie [Holland], with the advice and assent of Emma, his wife, and his heirs.

Second party: Peter Galle, son of Odo de Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: Twenty selions of arable land in the territory of Little Carleton [Little Carlton] lying on the north side of the vill. Four selions of which lie next between Peter's land on the west side and the land of Walter de Asfordby on the east side, and they abut towards the south upon Holbeck and towards the north upon le Margate. Two selions lie on the east side of the way of Carleton [Carlton] next between Peter's land on the west side and Walter's land on the east side, and they similarly abut as do the other selions. And two selions lie next between Peter's lands on the west side and Walter de Asfordby on the east side, and they similarly abut as do the others. And three selions lie next between Peter's lands on the west side and Walter's land on the east side, and they abut towards the south upon Peter's land. And three seions lie next between the land of the parson of the same vill and Walter's land, and they abut towards the east upon the ditch of Skalneys. And three selions lie next between Peter's land and Walter's land, and they abut similarly. And three selions lie next between the land of William Futur on the one side and Walter's land on the other, and they abut towards the west upon Walter's headland and towards the east upon that ditch. And one plot of meadow in Skalness lying next between Peter's meadow on the north side and Walter's meadow on the south side. With all appurtenances, liberties and easements without any reservation. For a certain sum of money which Peter gave to John in advance. To hold to Peter and his heirs and assigns of John and his heirs freely, quietly and in inheritance, paying 16d yearly to John and his heirs at four terms, namely 4d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for all services, secular customs, suits of courts and demands, saving foreign service, as far as it pertains to that land.
