Description

Folio: 414. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: John, son of Odo Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Adam, son of Simon de Skittebroch [Skidbrooke], and Alice, his wife.

Place or subject: The whole land lying in Skittebroch [Skidbrooke] at the dunes next between the land of John de Fossa on the west side and the land of Ralph Froste on the east side, and abutting towards the south upon the land of William son of Adam and towards the north upon the common. To hold to Adam during his life and to Alice, or to the longer liver of them, together with the house founded there, freely, quietly and peacefully, paying 8s yearly to John and his heirs, as long as they are alive, at four terms of the year appointed in the soke of Gayton, for all secular services, suits and demands, excepting commons of the vill. Adam and Alice will maintain the house at their own costs in the same state as they took them, or in a better state, and they will retain that land, and after their deaths the land with the house will return to John and his heirs without any challenge from the heirs of Adam and Alice.
