Description

Folio: 407v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Agreement.

First party: Reginald Seyleberth.

Second party: Philip Galle of Salfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: Reginald demised to Philip his whole land called le Lane in the territory of Carlethon [Carlton] lying between the marsh of Gaython [Gayton] on the south side and the ditch of the marsh of Carlton on the north side, and it extends in length from the land of Richard Perthuth towards the east as far as the land of Gilbert son of Ange towards the west. For a certain sum of money which Philip gave to Reginald at the beginning of this agreement. To hold to Philip and his heirs or assigns with free entry and exit and all other appurtenances, freely, quietly and peacefully until the end of ten years next following and fully to be completed. Saving the crop of that land throughout one year, about which there is disagreement between the parties, as is contained in a certain deed remaining in the hands of Herbert de Salfletby [Saltfleetby]. Once those years have elapsed and ten crops have been fully received by Philip or his heirs, but saving the crop of one year, which is under challenge, the whole of this land will return quit and absolute to Reginald and his heirs without impediment from Philip or his heirs.

County: [Lincolnshire].

Additional people: Witnesses: Herbert de Salfletby [Saltfleetby]; Gilbert Vavassore [Vavasour]; Adam de Schitbrock [Skidbrooke]; Ranulf Pya; William Pormorth of Salfletby [Saltfleetby]; and Robert the clerk.

The morrow of the Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 1262.
