Description

Folio: 406v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Agreement.

First party: Philip, son of Odo Galle.

Second party: Richard, son of Walter de Parco.

Place or subject: Philip granted, for himself and his heirs, that he would acquit Richard and his heirs from suits due from his fee in Skitebrok [Skidbrooke] and Somercotes, both in the king's court and also in the court of the lord of the soke of Geyton [Gayton] and in all other courts. If Richard or his heirs have incurred any loss for default of defence from Philip or his heirs concerning suits of these courts, Philip and his heirs will restore reasonable damages and expenses. Philip also granted that, if they pay the rent of £9 to Richard or his heirs at the terms contained in his charter, Philip will give to Richard 20s sterling in the name of expenses whenever he makes default in payment. Similarly, Richard de Parco granted that he would acquit Philip and his heirs of all damages and reasonable expenses which they will sustain for lack of warranty of Richard or his heirs, just as in doing homage to the lord of the fee or giving relief for that tenement.
