Description

Folio: 396. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: Robert, son of John Wyles of Welleton [Welton].

Second party: Philip Galle, son of Odo Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: One croft, surrounded by a ditch, in the vill of Skitebroc [Skidbrooke] called Brothecroft, which abuts towards the north upon the meadows of Skidbrooke and towards the south upon the royal way, and it lies between the territory of the vill of Skidbrooke on the west side and the way which leads from the royal way to the meadows on the east side, with free entry and exit, with all liberties and easements, in ways, paths, meadows, pastures, pasturages and all appurtenances within the vill and outside. To hold to Philip and his heirs or assigns of Robert and his heirs freely, peacefully, in fee and inheritance, paying yearly to Robert and his heirs one clove at Christmas, and to the lord of the fee 4s 4d a year at four terms, namely 13d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas for all services, suits, customs and exactions.
