Description

Folio: 394. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: Alan Aukes of Ingoldemeles [Ingoldmells] of the parish of St Peter.

Second party: William and Richard, his sons.

Place or subject: The whole land which Alan had by the gift of Rosecheles de Ulseby lying in the territory of Ingoldemedes [Ingoldmells], namely one plot of arable land lying between the land of Ranulf le Varner on the west side and the land of Andrew de Akewa on the east side, abutting towards the south upon the land of the earl of Huntingdon and towards the north upon the land of Willliam de Dunswra; and one other plot of pasture lying between the land of William the clerk on the south side and the land of Ranulf le Varner on the north side, abutting towards the west upon the land of Andrew de Akewa and towards the east upon the land of the earl of Huntingdon. To hold these lands with appurtenances and easements with free entry and exit to William and Richard and their heirs of the chief lord of the fee freely, quietly, well and in peace, doing yearly to the chief lord of the fee the due and accustomed service for this land, as far as it pertains to such a tenement of the same fee. [Entry underneath]: It has been accepted by an inquisition that Alan acquired three acres of free land from the soke of Cheyles and in his last days, before the reeve and bailiff and others of his neighbours, handed over that land to the use of William and Richard, Alan's sons, in such a way that William and Richard are to hold those lands for the term of their lives and the lives of the longer lived of them, and not according to the tenor of this charter. And he put William and Richard in full seisin by Ranulf Bedell, because these tenements were not handed over in full court, and the son and heir of Alan has not attained such estate or age, so that he can ratify the deed.

County: [Lincolnshire].

Additional people: Witnesses: William de Wra of Ingoldemeles [Ingoldmells]; Alan at the Church of the same; John de Marisco of the same; William de Hilletoft of the same; Ranulph le Varner of the same; William the clerk of the same; and Walter de Wra.

Undated.
