Description

Folio: 392v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Sale.

First party: David, son of Swayn de Schitebroc [Skidbrooke].

Second party: John, his brother.

Place or subject: One toft in the vill of Schitebroc [Skidbrooke] with the house built thereon, which lies between the land of William le Vint' on the south side and the land of the lord of the fee on the north side, and it abuts towards the west upon the royal way and towards the east upon John's land; five selions and one headland of arable land in Haymarke of Skidbrooke, three selions of which lie together between the land of the lord of the fee on the north side and John's land on the south side, and they abut towards the east upon the land of Richard Hunti and towards the west upon the land of Roger, then vicar of Skidbrooke, namely in Lenifecroft, and two selions and two headlands lie in Litel Croft between the land of the lord of the fee on the north side and the land of the church of Skidbrooke on the south side, and abutting upon the land formerly of Askel Bla towards the east and upon le Waterlade towards the west, and the said headland abuts on the south side upon Odecrofte and on the north side upon the land of the lord of the fee, with all appurtenances, liberties, easements, commons and free customs. Fully and entirely, for five marks which John gave to David. To hold to John and his heirs or assigns of the lord of the fee freely, quietly, and in right of inheritance, paying 4d yearly to the lord of the fee at four terms appointed in the soke of Gaytun [Gayton], for all secular service, custom and demand.
