Description

Folios: 388v-389. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Grant.

First party: Henry de Lascy [Lacy], earl of Lincoln.

Second party: William de Luda [Louth], dean of St Martin le Grand, London.

Place or subject: The earl granted and demised to William the custody of the manor of Ingleby, which was of Thomas de Multon of Frauncton [Frampton], deceased, who held of the earl in chief, together with the custody of Thomas de Multon [Moulton], his nephew and heir, and with his marriage. To hold to William, his heirs and assigns, together with woods, meadows, pastures, pasturages, fishponds, fisheries, services of villeins and freeholders, rents and homages, when they run, with advowsons of churches, knights' fees and all other things belonging to the same manor, without any reservation. William will give 270 marks to the earl for that custody and 200 marks for the marriage. William is to have ploughs, oxen, cows, horses, mares, pigs, sows and the whole stock being in that manor, except for the sheep there, with the corn in the grange, which the earl wishes to return to his own use. If William loses the manor in any way or is ejected from it, or the heir dies before his lawful age, then the earl is held to restore those 300 marks, which he is giving to him for that custody, in such a way that the £33 at which the manor is extended are to be allocated to the earl every year while William holds the manor.
