Description

Folios: 388-388v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter E. Agreement.

First party: Hawise de Quency [Quincy], countess of Lincoln.

Second party: Henry de Humberstain [Humberstone], falconer.

Place or subject: Hawise granted and demised to Henry the custody of Margaret, his daughter, with the whole portion of the land which falls to Margaret by right of inheritance on the part of Maud, her mother, fully in Humberstain [Humberstone] and Thethenay [Tetney] with all appurtenances, until Margaret comes to her reasonable age, with her marriage. For thirty marks which Henry gave to Hawise, and for three marks a year to Hawise and her heirs or assigns, to be paid at two terms, namely 20s at Michaelmas and 20s at Easter, until Margaret comes to a reasonable age. If Henry or her heirs make default in the payment of those 40s at any term, it will be lawful for Hawise and her heirs or assigns to distrain the tenement without any opposition until satisfaction has been made fully to Hawise. [Further details given].
