Place or subject: Thomas acknowledges that he and his heirs are bound to John and his heirs in 5d of annual rent for two and a half acres of meadow in the west meadows of Salfledby [Saltfleetby], which Thomas holds of John. He binds himself and his heirs under pain of 100s that they will not sell this meadow or give or alienate it in any way without the will and assent of John and his heirs.
