Description

Folio: 373. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Quitclaim.

First party: Alice, late wife of Andrew Saladyn [Saladin] of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Master John Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: Her whole right and claim in the name of dower or inheritance in all lands, tenements and rents with all appurtenances which were once of Andrew, her late husband, in the vill and territory of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby]. For a certain sum of money which John gave to Alice in advance, and for one croft, surrounded by a ditch, lying in the same vill next between the toft which was of Andrew, her late husband, on the south side and the land of John himself on the north, east and west sides. Which same toft Master John granted to Alice during the whole of her life, paying yearly to him and his heirs, as long as she is alive, the service which belongs to that land, namely 5d at the terms appointed in the soke of Gayton, and doing the customs belonging to that place. Immediately after Alice's death, the croft will return to John and his heirs from Alice and her heirs without challenge or impediment.
