Description

Folio: 365v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Demise.

First party: Emma, late wife of William del Holm.

Second party: Philip Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: One gore of land with the whole right and claim which Emma had in the vill of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby] lying between Philp's land Philip on the west side and the land of the monks of Parco Lude [Louth Park] on the east side, and it extends in length from the bank as far as le Aadic. For one mark which Philip gave to Emma in advance. To hold to Philip and his heirs or assigns of Emma and her heirs quietly and peacefully from the feast of the Ascension, 1241, until the end of the eleven years next following. Once those eleven years have elapsed and as many crops have been fully received from that land by Philip or his [heirs], the land will return quit to Emma. She has also granted Philip that she is to be obliged not to sell, give or in any way alienate that gore within this term, ezxcept to Philip or his heirs, provided that Philip wishes to pay as much money for it as others will wish to pay.
