Description

Folios: 358-358v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Ranulf Russell of Saltfletbi [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Master John Galle, son of Odo of the same vill.

Place or subject: One croft, surrounded with ditches, called Ragnildcroft, together with the house lying in the same vill, next between Ranulf's land on the west side and the land of John Druri on the east side, and abutting towards the north upon le Neudicgate and towards the south upon the royal way. And three selions of arable land with a certain green ditch next adjacent on the west side, called Daildich, in the same vill, lying next between the land which was of John son of Eudo on the east side and the land which was of Simon son of Avyn on the west side, and abutting towards the north upon le Neudicgate and towards the south upon the land of the heirs of Thomas de Lindesay [Lindsey]. And one selion of arable land lying on the north side of le Neudick in that vill next between the land of Walter son of Petronella on the east side and the land of John son of Ranulf on the west side, and abutting towards the south upon le Neudicgate and towards the north upon the land of the church of St Clement. And five selions of arable land and one gore lying in Dufhetoftes in the same vill, which Ranulf bought from Alan, son of Osbert son of Baldric and Andrew Saladin, next between John's land on the east side and the land which was of Andrew le Noreys on the west side, and abutting towards the north upon le Neudicgate and towards the south upon the land of Andrew le Noreys. With appurtenances and easements, without any reservation, for three quarters of wheat and one quarter of beans, to be paid to Ranulf and Maud, his wife, yearly during their lives. To hold to John and his heirs and assigns from the chief lords of the fees freely, quietly, in fee and inheritance, paying yearly to the lords of the fees the service which pertains to this tenement, namely 18d to the lord of Multona [Moulton] 18d at four terms of the year appointed in the soke of Gayton; and to the heirs of Richard son of Humphrey the service which belongs to Dufhetoftes at these terms for all services and demands.
