Description

Folios: 353v-354. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Peter, son of Odo Galle of Saufletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Robert, son of Wad' of Skytebrock [Skidbrooke], clerk.

Place or subject: The whole land which Peter had, or could have, lying between the land of John son of Hugh on the south side, and the way which leads to the house of the abbot of Parco Lude [Louth Park] on the north side, and abutting towards the east upon the common way and towards the west upon the land of Andrew Pollard at the port of Sauflet' [Saltfleetby]. Which same land contains in length by the south side nine 'falls' and four feet, and eight 'falls' and ten feet by the north side with a perch of siteen feet, with all appurtenances, liberties and commodities, commons and easements pertaining to that land. For his homage and service. To hold to Robert, his heirs and assigns, excepting religious men and Jews, of Peter and his heirs freely, quietly, entirely, well, peacefully and in inheritance, with free entry and exit, paying yearly to Peter and his heirs 12s at four terms of the year, namely 3s at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for all secular services, customs, exactions and demands, suits of court, excepting two appearances in the court of Skytebrock [Skidbrooke] a year, which is to say at the next court after Easter and the next court after Michaelmas, and 'sacrabar' if it happens. Robert and his heirs or assigns will sustain all costs and expenses of the vill in all places pertaining to that land, and upon the ditch of the sea forty feet next on the west side of Adam le Noren.
