Description

Folio: 353. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Obligation.

First party: Robert, son of Walter at the church of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Philip Galle, son of Odo Galle of the same vill.

Place or subject: Robert has granted and obliged himself to pay to Philip and his heirs 5s 8d of rent at four terms of the year, namely 17d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for the land which Robert holds of his patronage in the vill of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby], which land lies in the place where Walter, Robert's father, once lived, from Neudic as far as le Aadic and in Lagland and Dayla, and on the east side of the croft which was of Gilbert Rose and on the north side of Flet next to the land of Adam son of Alexander, and is that part which is towards the west in all those places. It will be lawful for Philip and his heirs to distrain Robert and his heirs by chattels and by Robert's lands, whenever payment of this rent ceases at any of these terms. For this grant and for Robert's homage and service, Philip and his heirs will acquit these lands from the farms which pertain to them, namely from 20d a year to the lords of the fee payable at four terms of the year, namely 5d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas.
