Description

Folios: 343v-344. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: William, son of Geoffrey de Gayton, priest.

Second party: Philip, son of Odo Galle of Saltfletby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: Three perches of land in the territory of Gayton in the field of the north, lying in a place called Turfgranes between the land of Richard de Ses on the north side and the land of Robert the reeve on the south side, whose limit towards the west abuts upon the garden of Robert Astumeue, and the limit towards the east upon Thierdic, with free entry and exit and all appurtenances pertaining to that land within the vill and outside. For 10s which Philip gave to William in advance. To hold to Philip and his heirs and assigns of William and his heirs peacefully in free and perpetual alms, just as William holds that land of the church of St Margaret of Wyern [Withern], paying yearly to William and his heirs one clove at Michaelmas for all services, suits of courts, customs and exactions.
