Description

Folios: 342v-343. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Thomas, son of Gilbert, son of Swann of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Gilbert, son of William Coleman of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: Four acres and 36½ 'falls' of meadow in Salfleteby [Saltfleetby] on the south side of Thomas's croft lying next between the land of Gilbert son of Solomon, clerk, in length on the east side. And it extends in length next to ditch which lies between the land Agnes de Carcon holds, and it lies next on the west side of the ditch. And they abut towards the south upon the land of Gilbert Coleman and the land which was of Peter Galle called Feyerhoueland in width and towards the north upon Thomas's land. To hold freely, quietly, fully and entirely without any reservation for ten marks which Gilbert gave Thomas in advance. To hold to Gilbert and his heirs or assigns of Thomas and his heirs freely, quietly and in inheritance, paying yearly to Thomas and his heirs 4d at four terms of the year, namely 1d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for all secular services, customs and demands.
