Description

Folios: 330v-331. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Robert, son of Gilbert the carpenter of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Peter Galle of Manneby [Manby].

Place or subject: Two and a half acres of meadow with appurtenances in the south meadows of Salfletby [Saltfleetby] lying next between Saladindayle on the east side, and the croft which was of Ivo Drury on the west side, and it abuts towards the south upon the croft which was of Gilbert Raven and towards the north upon Midelgate, and one 'fall', half a 'fall' and the measure of one foot, lying between Gilbert's land on the east side and the land of Gilbert Drury on the west side, and it extends in length eleven 'falls' from Hadicgate towards the north. And whatever Robert had or could have in those places, together with the house formerly constructed there, with free entries and exits, without any reservation, in perpetual exchange for two and a half acres and fifteen 'falls' of land lying in the vill of Carleton [Carlton], with all appurtenances next between Robert's land on the south side and the land which Odo son of Hacon holds on the north side, and it abuts towards the west upon the common way and towards the east upon the field. To hold to Peter and his heirs of Robert and his heirs freely, quietly and in inheritance in perpetual exchange, paying yearly to Robert and his heirs one clove within the octave of Easter for all secular services, customs, suits of courts, exactions, demands and all commons of the vill, both against the flow of the sea and also against the flow of freshwater.
