Description

Folio: 324v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Peter, son of Odo Galle of Saufletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: John Gaske of Cuningesholm [Conisholme] and Hawise, his wife.

Place or subject: One plot of land at the port of Sauflet [Saltfleetby] lying between the way on the south side, which contains four 'falls', four feet less in length with a perch of sixteen feet, and the land of Thomas le Noren on the north side, which contains in length three 'falls' only with a perch of the same measure, and it abuts towards the east upon Peter's land and towards the west upon the land of William le Bee and Simon le Coke. To hold to John and Hawise and their heirs or assigns, excepting religious men and Jews, of Peter and his heirs or assigns freely, quietly and in inheritance entirely and in peace. Paying yearly to Peter and his heirs 3s at the four terms of the year, namely 9d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for all secular services, actions, customs, suits of courts and demands, saving they will sustain 'sacrabar' if it happens. John, Hawise and their heirs or assigns shall construct, repair and emend all commons and outlays of the vill, which pertain to that plot of land, and twenty feet upon the ditch of the sea on the west side of Andrew Pollard, whenever it will be necessary, at their own costs.
