Description

Folios: 320v-321. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Peter, son of Odo Galle of Salfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: William, son of Hugh de Skytebrock [Skidbrooke] and Maud, his wife.

Place or subject: One plot of land at the gate of Salfleth [Saltfleetby] with appurtenances and all buildings founded thereupon, which contains in length eight 'falls' by the perch of sixteen feet, and in width two 'falls' and twelve feet by the same perch, and it lies between Peter's land on the south side and the lands of Alan Gos, William Rute and Peter's land on the north side, and it abuts towards the west and east upon Peter's land. To hold to William and Maud, their heirs and assigns, excepting religious men and Jews, of Peter and his heirs freely, quietly and in inheritance, with free entry and exit towards the east and so towards the south as far as the common way. Paying yearly to Peter and his heirs 15s at the four terms of the year, namely 3s 9d at each of the feasts of Christmas, Easter, St Botolph and Michaelmas, for all secular services, suits of courts, customs and demands, except commons and expenses of the vill belonging to that plot. It is to be known that the way which lies at the east side of this messuage that leads towards the south will contain ten feet in width.
