Description

Folios: 316v-317. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: Peter, son of Odo Galle of Salfletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Absolon, his servant.

Place or subject: One toft and one croft called Simenelthoft and Simenelcroft, with houses founded thereupon, and also one and half acres of meadow lying in the vill and territory of Saufletby [Saltfleetby] between the land of Alan Botald and the heirs of Robert Mareschald on the east side and the land of Ranulf Pya on the west side, and they abut towards the south upon Ha and towards the north upon le Neudic. In such a way that he cannot sell or assign or wager in Judaism or bequeath the lands in a will. For his service. To hold to Absolon during the whole of the lives of Peter and his heirs freely, quietly, well and in peace, paying yearly to Peter and his heirs 9s at the four terms appointed in the soke of Gayton, for all services. After Absolon's death the lands will return to Peter and his heirs without any impediment or challenge. Absolon will sustain all the charges and commons of the vill as far as it pertains to that land.
