To hold to Adam and Elizabeth and their heirs in tail, and also his heirs if they die without heirs in tail, of the earl and his heirs freely, quietly, well and in peace, doing to the earl and his heirs the service of half a knight's fee. Paying to the earl and his heirs yearly £6 8s 4d during the whole life of Joan, Adam's mother, namely a moiety at Michaelmas and the other moiety at Easter. Paying to the count of Brittany and his heirs for the earl and his heirs 7s 9½d for the service of fourteen acres and three roods of land in Salfletby [Saltfleetby]. And similarly paying yearly to Thomas, son of Alan de Multon [Moulton] 35s 5d for the service of 162 acres and one rood of land in Saltfleetby; and to the heirs of John Gamelby 7d a year for the service of three and a half acres of land in Saltfleetby; and to the heirs of Clement son of Aunger 3d a year, for the service of two acres of land in Saltfleetby by Clementcroft; and to Walter the clerk 2½d a year for the service of two acres of land in Saltfleetby, lying on the east side of Mikeldick. Henry and his heirs shall warrant and defend all these tenements, with that rent of 40s in this form to Adam and Elizabeth and their heirs, and also to Adam's heirs if he Adam and Elizabeth die without heirs in tail, against all men, and they shall also acquit them against all others, except against the count of Brittany and his heirs, Thomas, son of Alan de Multon, and his heirs, the heirs of Clement son of Aunger; and Walter the clerk and his heirs. Adam and Elizabeth and their heirs, and also his heirs if they die without heirs in tail, will be quit after John's death from the payment of £6 8s 4d a year forever.
