Description

Folios: 305-305v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Grant.

First party: John, son of Odo Galle of Saufletby [Saltfleetby].

Second party: Adam, son of Philip le Norey.

Place or subject: One place at the port of Salflet [Saltfleetby] which lies next between the land of William le Hyrd on the south side and John's land on the north side, and it abuts towards the west upon John's land and towards the east upon the common way, and it contains in width on the east side forty-eight feet and on the west side forty-seven feet, but in length on the side towards the south ten 'falls' and on the north side nine and a half 'falls', with all appurtenances, liberties, easements and commons. For his homage and service. To hold to Adam and his heirs and assigns, excepting religious men and Jews, from John and his heirs freely, quietly, in inheritance, well and in peace, paying yearly to John and his heirs 4s sterling, namely 12d at each of the feasts of Easter, St Botolph, MIchaelmas and Christmas, for all secular services, customs, exactions, demands and suits, excepting one appearance a year in the court of Scytebrok [Skidbrooke], in the first court after Michaelmas. Adam and his heirs will sustain all charges and commons of the vill pertaining to that place, and they will sustain and repair twenty feet of the ditch of the marsh next to the part of William le Hyrd.
