Description

Folio: 302. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter D. Licence.

First party: Henry III.

Second party: John, son of Odo Galle of Saltfleteby [Saltfleetby].

Place or subject: Licence for John and his heirs to have forever one market at their manor of Saltfleteby [Saltfleetby] every single week on a Friday and one fair there every single year to last for eight days, namely on the eve, the day and the morrow of St Matthew the Apostle and the five days following, unless that market and fair are to the nuisance of neighbouring markets and fairs. The king has also granted John that he and his heirs may have forever free warren in all their demesne lands of Saltfleetby, Somercote [Somercotes] and Skytebrok [Skidbrooke], provided that those lands are not within the metes of the king's forest. No one is to enter those lands to hunt in them or to take anything which pertains to the warren without the king's licence and the will of John or his heirs, upon forfeiture to the king of £10.
