Description

Folios: 287-287v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter C. Grant.

First party: Henry Bech.

Second party: Nicholas Bech, his brother.

Place or subject: In exchange for certain lands within two bovates which Agnes, his mother, gave to Nicholas in fee and inheritance in the territory of Eresbi [Eresby], namely for four selions in Dal which abut upon Sandes, for three selions next to Henry's cultivated field of Wydal, for four selions by Redlands, one selion which Arnold held, and for the toft which was of Nicholas the chaplain. For all this Henry gave to Nicholas in exchange his whole cultivated field, which is called Muchwang, and two selions which Richard the shepherd held next to the west side of the same cultivated field, with the whole valley adjacent on the north side of that land, and free exit and entry to him and his heirs to have pasture throughout the whole land which lies within these metes, namely between Henry's cultivated field of Holm on the one side and on the other side between the cultivated field of Muchwang and the croft of Winemer and Hugh, and so through Huntegard as far as the great way which goes from Eresby towards Spilesbi [Spilsby]. To hold freely and quit from all service, custom, exaction and demand under the same service which he does for those bovates of land, as is contained in the charter of Henry's mother, and with all kinds of liberty to do with whatever he wishes, with this charter confirming whatever he will do.
