Folios: 269-269v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter B. Agreement.
First party: Henry, abbot of Croiland [Crowland], Thomas de Multon [Moulton], Thomas, his son, Robert de Oyry, Lambert de Quappelad' [Whaplode], William le Angevin, Roger Bacun and their partners and their men from two hundreds, namely Flete [Fleet], Holebech [Holbeach] and Whaplode.
Second party: William Lungesp' [Longespee] and Idonea, his wife, Simon, prior of Spalding, Geoffrey de Oyry, Lambert de Multon, William de Neweton, Hugh de Ros, Reginald de Tyd, Alan son of Theobald, and their partners and men from two hundreds, namely Gedeneie [Gedney], Sutton [Long Sutton], Lutton and Tyd [Tydd].
Place or subject: They have agreed that the whole marsh outside the foreign 'Fendik' pertaining to those vills, namely from the boundary between Quappelad' [Whaplode] and Multon [Moulton], as far as Trokenholt and the foreign ditch of Sutton [Long Sutton] and Tyd [Tydd], and so by the bank of Tydd as far as Trokenholt, is to be divided between those vills by twelve lawful men, in such a way that every carucate of land is to be equal to the other. The two hundreds of Gedney, Long Sutton, Lutton and Tydd are to have their portion on the one side separate, nearer to them, and the other two hundreds, namely Fleet, Holbeach and Whaplode, are to have their portion, nearer to them, on the other side separate. They have all bound themselves to each other that neither party is to make peace with the bishop of Ely or his partners or their men concerning the marsh, whereupon there is a dispute between them and the bishop. If there arises any costs from the dispute, each vill is to meet its part of the cost according to the number and equal portion of carucates. If the bishop or his partners or their men deraign anything from the marsh against the abbot and the others, the expense will be common to both parties of those four hundreds. Memorandum that on the part of William Lungesp' and his partners it is granted that they ought to begin to share the marsh between those four hundreds at the corner towards the east of the 'Fendik' of Fleet.
