Description

Folios: 244-244v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter A. Quitclaim.

First party: Angerus, abbot of Derham [West Dereham], and the convent there.

Second party: Margaret de Lascy [Lacy], countess of Lincoln.

Place or subject: The whole of their right, claim and possession in digging four areas of turbary in the marsh of Bulingbroc [Bolingbroke], which the abbot and convent had from the gift of William de Rumare [Roumare]. In addition, the abbot and convent have granted to the countess, her heirs or assigns in the grove of Wrengle [Wrangle] the whole grove as far as the port of the sea which lies between the grove formerly of Alexander de Poynton and the grove formerly of Eleanor daughter of Heymer, and nine acres in the grove of the sea of Wrangle, measured by the perch of twenty feet, namely next to the salt-work formerly of Alexander de Poynton towards the east, and one plot with buildings and with a whole cultivated field of arable land which they had there, and pasture in the common pasture of Wrangle for fifty-four oxen. Which tenements with the groves and pasture they had of the gift of Simon Briton in Wrangle. To hold to the countess, her heirs or assigns without any reservation forever. For this quitclaim the countess gave the abbot and convent eighty marks of silver.
