Description

Folios: 241-241v. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter A. Grant.

First party: Robert the chamberlain of Pontefract.

Second party: Alan de Hareby, son of Walter.

Place or subject: Robert has acknowledged and granted in the full court of Ranulf, earl of Chester at Bulinbroc [Bolingbroke] to Alan, his kinsman, seven bovates of land in Mitinghesbi [Miningsby] and Kirkebi [East Kirkby] with appurtenances as his right and inheritance, which he claimed against Robert by writ of right in that court, namely those which were of Ivo, his, grandfather and Colsuan, his brother. To hold to Alan and his heirs of the earl and his heirs freely and quietly by the service of a fourth part of one knight's fee for all services in fee and inheritance. And it is to be known that Robert has handed over to him the charters which he had of William de Roumar' [Roumare] the elder and William, his nephew, in that court.
