Description

Folios: 236v-237. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter A. Grant.

First party: William de Romara [Roumare], earl of Lincoln.

Second party: The brothers of the Knights Templar of Solomon.

Place or subject: The gift which Robert de Calceis, David de Totintona [Toynton], Torold the falconer, Gilbert de Bolonia [Boulogne] and Roger de Beningworda [Benniworth] gave to the brothers of the Knights Templar of Solomon, for the salvation of William's soul and the souls of William, his son, his father and mother and all his ancestors, in perpetual alms, free and quit from all secular service freely, namely the land of the marsh of Totintona, Keal, another Keal [East and West Keal], Stikeforda [Stickford], and the whole land of the same marsh, which all his men gave to them, and also Brademera with all appurtenances. William, nephew and heir of the same William, granted this gift to those brothers, to hold forever. They are to hold all the said lands well and in peace, free and quiet from all secular services and customs, as quietly and freely as they may hold any alms.
