Description

Folio: 236. Honor of Bolyngbrok [Bolingbroke], in one box, marked by the letter A. Grant.

First party: Ranulf, earl of Chester.

Second party: Alan de Hareby, son of Walter.

Place or subject: Seven bovates of land in Mithingesbi [Miningsby] and Kirkebi [East Kirkby] with all appurtenances, namely those which were of Ivo, grandfather of this Alan, and of Colsuan, Ivo's brother. To hold to Alan and his heirs of the earl and his heirs in fee and inheritance freely and quietly by the service of a fourth part of one knight's fee for all services pertaining to the same land, just as the charter of Robert the chamberlain of Pontefract, Alan's kinsman, bears witness. Robert handed over this land and acknowledged it to Alan as his right and inheritance in the earl's full court at Bolingbroc [Bolingbroke].
