Place or subject: The borough of Hereford and the castle and whole earldom of Hereford, except for the land of the bishopric and the land of the abbey of Reding [Reading] and of other churches and abbeys which they hold of the king in chief, and except for the fee of Hugh de Mortimer, the fee of Osbert son of Hugh, the fee of William de Braiosa, and the fee of Gotson de Dinan which was of Hugh de Laci [Lacy]. [Further details given]. The earl and his heirs after him are to hold well and in peace, freely, quietly and honourably in wood, plain, meadows, pastures, waters, ponds, ways, paths and mills in the borough and outside, with all other things and liberties, quittances and customs, with which William son of Osbert ever held them.
