Description

Folio: 213. Herefordshire. Grant.

First party: Edmund, son of Henry III [Edmund of Lancaster].

Second party: William de Grandissono [Grandison] and Sibyl, his wife.

Place or subject: The manors of Asperton [Ashperton] and Stratton [Stretton Grandison] with appurtenances, together with the homage and service of Richard de Fay from the tenement he held of Edmund in the vill of Mayneston [Mainstone]. For their homage and service. To hold to William and Sibyl and his heirs in tail, together with houses, gardens, park, wood, fishponds, ditches, rents, services, villeinages, wards, reliefs, marriages, escheats, demesnes, meadows, pastures and all other appurtenances and liberties, freely, quietly, well and in peace forever, doing to Edmund and his heirs the service of half a knight's fee for all service. If it happens that William dies without heirs in tail, while Sibyl is still alive, the manor is to remain to her for the whole of her life, and after her death it is to revert to Edmund and his heirs fully without opposition or impediment of anyone. If William survives Sibyl and dies without heirs in tail, these manors are similarly to revert to Edmund and his heirs.
