Description

Folios: 196-196v. Gloucestershire. Grant.

First party: Edmund, son of Henry III [Edmund of Lancaster].

Second party: William de Grandisono, his groom.

Place or subject: The manors of Radelee [Rodley] and Menestreworth [Minsterworth]. For his praiseworthy service and that of his parents. To hold toWilliam and his heirs in tail with appurtenances as in homages, services, rents, liberties, customs, lands, meadows, pastures, mills, ponds, fishponds, fisheries, waters, woods, marshes, turbaries and with the estover, which Edmund was accustomed to receive in the forest of Dene [Dean] towards repairing his weirs in those manors, and with other things belonging to them, freely, quietly, entirely, well and peacefully forever, doing to Edmund and his heirs or assigns the homage and service of one knight for all things. In such a way that, as soon as Edmund or his heirs have given to William or his heirs other lands worth £60 sterling in a suitable place in the realm of England or in the realm of France, to be had in that form, or if William dies without an heir in tail, then those manors with appurtenances are to revert to Edmund or his heirs freely.
