Description

Folios: 187-187v. Wiltshire. Grant.

First party: Peter de St Martin.

Second party: Patrick de Chaworces [Chaworth].

Place or subject: The whole of Peter's land with appurtenances which he held in Standene [Standen], together with the advowson of the chapel, and the whole of Peter's land of Achulle [Oakhill] which he held of William de St Martin, and the whole of his land which he held in Lillingestone of the king in chief; and the whole of his land called Thornhater, which he held of Hugh Chasteillun; and the whole of his wood of Nortune which he held of William Marshal, and the whole right which he had or could have in those lands in any case. To hold of Peter and his heirs to Patrick and his heirs or assigns freely and quietly, peacefully and entirely in lands, fields, meadows, woods, pastures, mills, ponds, fishponds, fisheries, ways, paths, demesnes, fees, homages, reliefs and escheats and all liberties and free customs pertaining to those lands forever. Paying yearly to Peter and his heirs one pair of white gloves at Easter of the price of 2d for all services. Saving to Hugh de Chasteillun and his heirs 6d or one pair of gilt spurs of annual rent payable at Christmas for the land called Thornhater, and 2s of yearly rent to William Marshal and his heirs, payable at Michaelmas for the wood of Nortune. And also saving the service of the king. For this grant Patrick gave Peter 110 marks sterling in advance.
