Description

Folios: 186v-187. Wiltshire. Agreement.

First party: Peter, son of Hugh de St Martin.

Second party: Richard Wyard, miller of Hewull.

Place or subject: Peter granted Richard half a yardland with appurtenances in the field of Coleshanneshangre, which Peter de Huppedon once held from Hugh, Peter's father. In addition, he granted Richard pasture in the common as far it pertains to half a yardland of the same vill. To hold to Richard and his heirs of Peter and his heirs from Michaelmas, 32 Hen. III, until the term of six years next following has been completed. Paying yearly to Peter and his heirs 14s of silver at the four terms of the year, namely 3s 6d at the feast of St Thomas the Apostle before Christmas, 3s 6d at the feast of the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary, 3s 6d at the feast of St John the Baptist, and 3s 6d at Michaelmas, and four autumn boon-works, and at each of the four boon-works he is to find two men for all exaction and secular demand and suit of court, saving royal service, as far as it pertains to half a yardland of the same vill. For this grant Richard gave Peter 2s silver in advance. At the end of that term this half-yardland with appurtenances, and with one reasonable house according to the view of lawful men, is to revert to Peter and his heirs without any opposition or impediment from Richard or his heirs, with housebote and haybote.
