Description

Folios: 185-185v. Wiltshire. Agreement.

First party: Payn de Cadurciis [Chaworth].

Second party: Thomas le Savage, knight.

Place or subject: Thomas gave Payn his manor of Burebach [Burbage] with appurtenances forever, just as is more fully contained in the charter of feoffment which Payn has concerning this. For this grant Payn granted that he will provide for Thomas and Maud, his wife, and Thomas, their first-born son, in any religious house where provision can be made better and more suitably, three corrodies of monks or canons and one corrody of one free servant, which will last as long as Thomas and Maud, or either of them, are alive. And the sustenance of one palfrey in hay and fodder. And four marks of silver yearly as long as they are alive, to be received at the two terms of the year from Payn or his heirs or assigns, namely two marks at Easter and two marks at Michaelmas. In such a way that, on any of them dying, the corrody of the deceased will cease. If she survives her husband, Maud is to receive two marks a year at these terms. But if the son survives after the death of his father and mother, he is to receive one mark yearly at these terms.

County: [Wiltshire].

Additional people: Witness: Thomas Lente, canon of Motesfont [Mottisfont].

Thursday next before the beginning of Lent, 2 Edw I.
