Description

Folios: 174-174v. Hampshire. Grant.

First party: Henry de Lancastre, lord of Monem' [Monmouth], and Maud, his wife.

Second party: Thomas de Gloucestre [Gloucester].

Place or subject: One messuage and one half yardland which were of Adam le Frere in the vill of Weston Patrich [Weston Patrick] with all appurtenances, excepting that wood of that half-yardland formerly adjacent, which lies on the east side of the greater park of Weston [Weston Patrick]. For which wood Henry has granted Thomas a certain wood that was of Thomas le Taillour in the same vill, which lies on the south side of the smaller park of Weston Patrick. For his service. To hold that messuage and half-yardland with appurtenances, excepting that wood adjacent, together with the wood formerly of Thomas le Taillour, of Henry and his heirs to Thomas de Gloucestre freely, quietly, well and in peace, as long as he is alive, paying yearly to Henry and his heirs during his whole life one penny at the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary for all service and secular demand, excepting royal service and suit of Henry's court four times a year, namely at the next court after Michaelmas, the next court after the feast of St Andrew, the next court after the Annunciation of the Blessed Mary, and the next court after the Nativity of St John the Baptist.
