Description

Folios: 171v-172. Hampshire. Agreement.

First party: William Briewere [Brewer].

Second party: Walter, son of Payn de Sumburn [Somborne].

Place or subject: Walter granted William the whole of his land and wood of Hakel, and also forty-two acres of land which he had within the park of la Rigg, and the whole meadow which he had in the park of Howod [How Wood]. To hold to William and his heirs with all things pertaining to those tenements in the vill and outside the vill without any reservation, quit from Walter and his heirs forever. And in exchange for this land and the wood of Hakel, William has granted Walter the land called la Swaneland in the fields of Sumburn [King's Somborne], and two acres in la Brac by the land of Edmund de Marisco, and one yardland in Magna Sumburn [King's Somborne] with appurtenances, which was of Hariobert, and 3s of land which Ralph the parmenter held. He also gave in exchange for those forty-two acres of land within the park of le Rigg forty-two acres of land upon Seperdon towards the east, and in exchange for the said meadow of Howod [How Wood] a meadow in Scobrig, namely that which lies within the meadow of the parson and the meadow of the men of King's Somborne, to the quantity of that meadow of Howod [How Wood]. To hold to Walter and his heirs of John de Munemue [Monmouth] and Cecily, his wife, and her heirs by the service which he was accustomed to do to them for those tenements which Walter gave William. In addition, William granted to Walter and his heirs housebote and haybote in the wood of Perhehot at Walter's demesne of Somborne, and common in the pasture of King's Somborne, with William's other men of the same vill.
