First party: Stephen, prior of the church of St Swithin, Winchester, and the convent there, with the assent of Godfrey, bishop of Winchester [Godfrey de Lucy].
Second party: William Brewer.
Place or subject: The part of the marsh of Hoctun [Houghton] which William ditched in the first year of the reign of King John, to enlarge his park of Howd [How Wood]. Saving the usual course of the water running to the mill of that vill of Hoctun [Houghton]. To be possessed freely and quietly forever. For this gift William gave Stephen in exchange 10s of rent of certain land in the great street of Winchester at the post which Jocelin Sinnuch holds, and another 10s worth of land outside the south gate next to the prior's barton.
