Description

Folios: 170v-171. Hampshire. Grant.

First party: Henry de Pomereia.

Second party: William Briwerre [Brewer].

Place or subject: The service of Gerard son of Elias from the whole fee which he held of Henry, namely in Hanoc and all its appurtenances, by the service of four and a half knights for the same service which pertain to the same fee. For William's homage and service. To hold to William and his heirs of Henry and his heirs in fee and inheritance. For this grant William gave Henry one silver-gilt cup as acknowledgement. And from the service of the same fee there passes the man of Henry, Henry's son and heir, to whom he gave one courser as acknowledgement. This grant was made by the petition of Gerard son of Elias and William, his son. And from this service there passed to Gerard the man of William Briewerre [Brewer], and William, son of Gerard, similarly. Henry also granted to William Briewerre the service of Richard de Treimmetes from the whole fee which Richard held of Henry, with all appurtenances, namely half the vill of Aulescumba [Awliscombe] and Bantescuappe and Hanton. To hold to William and his heirs of Henry and his heirs in inheritance by the service of one knight's fee. For this grant William gave to Henry one destrier as acknowledgement, and to Henry, son of Henry, one gold ring.
