Description

Folio: 170. Hampshire. Agreement.

First party: Patrick de Chaur' [Chaworth].

Second party: Stephen de Sumburne [Somborne].

Place or subject: Stephen demised and quitclaimed his whole right and claim in the land of Sumburne [King's Somborne], which Ralph the chaplain, his brother, formerly held in chief from there; and the whole land which Ralph held of Robert Walerand and Denise, his wife; and the whole land which he held of Reginald Cabus, excepting one acre of land which lies outside the fence of Ralph the baker; and a certain part of the meadow which lies between the meadow of Nicholas de Shirlye [Shirley] and the marsh of Lastrete. Saving the dower which Juliana, formerly the wife of Kenelm will hold as long as she is alive. For this quitclaim Patrick granted to Stephen and his heirs a certain messuage with a croft which John Sharpe once held in the vill of Langestoke [Longstock], and fourteen acres of land which Piraus formerly held with appurtenances in the same vill. Paying yearly to Patrick and his heirs 2s sterling at Michaelmas for all service. If it happens that Stephen and his heirs cannot warrant those lands to Patrick and his heirs, then that messuage and those fourteen acres with the meadow are to fully revert to Patrick and his heirs without any reservation.

County: [Hampshire].

Additional people: Witnesses: Robert de York; Henry de Albin; Robert de la Dune; Patrick de Berewik; William, his brother; Jordan de Gratele; Henry the clerk of Stokbrige [Stockbridge].
