Folios: 168-168v. Hampshire. Grant.

First party: King John.

Second party: William Briwerr' [Brewer].

Place or subject: One knight's fee in Meldesham which John Briwerr held with the daughter and heir of William de Danmartin. And one knight's fee in Baukewell [Bakewell] which Ralph Gernun holds. And half a knight's fee in Thorp which Ralph de Siccaville held. And one knight's fee in Gutton which Robert the chamberlain held, and the serjeanty which he has of the king's chamber. And one knight's fee in Langeford [Langford] which Robert del Estre held. And the fourth part of a knight's fee in Uplamburn [Upper Lambourn] which Henry son of Riulf held, and the whole service of Henry de Clinton. And the fees of ten knights in Cornwall which Nicholas de Midelton held. And the fees of 10 knights in Nottinghamshire which were of Roger and Robert de Burum, whereof Peter de Sandiacra, their heir, has an exchange, namely Chelmeresdon [Chelmorton] and the whole service of Peter de Sandiacra [Sandiacre], which he owed to the king from the land he has from him in exchange for the land of Horseleg [Horsley]. To hold to William and his heirs of the king and his heirs in such a way that those who hold those tenements and their heirs are to be answerable to the him and his heirs, and William and his heirs are to answer the king and his heirs. In addition, the king has granted him and his heirs the vill of Snodinton [Snoddington] with assarts, namely thirty acres, and with all other appurtenances, to hold in fee farm by £8 to be paid to the king and his heirs yearly by the hands of the sheriff of Notingham [Nottinghamshire]. And sixty acres of assart which William assarted from his osier bed of Sumburn [King's Somborne] next to another of his assarts, free and quit from the view and regard of the foresters and from all demand. And the lawn of Caddeburi [Cadbury] to be brought under cultivation, which he has from the gift of Hugh de Culunciis in the manor of Berghton [Broughton]. To hold to William and his heirs well, in peace, freely, quietly, entirely and honourably in all places and things with all liberties and free customs pertaining to the premises.
