Description

Folios: 167v-168. Hampshire. Grant.

First party: King John.

Second party: William Briewerr' [Brewer].

Place or subject: The manor of Sumburn Album [King's Somborne] with all appurtenances and with all its entirety, and in augmentation of that manor one day of a market place at le Strete every week yearly, and 40s sterling which he used to pay to the king yearly from the forest of la Bera [Bere] which he has in custody. To hold of the king and his heirs to William and his heirs forever by the service of two knights' fees for all service and secular exaction. William and his heirs are to hold the premises of the king and his heirs well and in peace, freely and quietly, fully and honourably in homages, knights' services, the advowson of churches, wood, plain, meadows, pastures, waters, mills, ponds, and in all places and things with all liberties and free customs, as the king's father and brother held them, with 'socha, sacha, toll, theam and infangeneth' by the service of two knights' fees.
