Description

Folios: 155v-156. Bedfordshire. Testimony of a deed.

First party: William, prior of St Augustine, Daventry, and the convent there.

Second party: [unspecified].

Place or subject: The prior has found in the treasury and in the registers there a certain muniment, as follows: Robert de Braybrook, formerly sheriff of Northamptonshire, bought from Eustace de Watteford [Watford] senior a meadow called Santford, paying 2s annually to Eustace. This Robert begot Henry de Braybrok [Braybrooke], who gave the meadow to the house of Daventre [Daventry] at perpetual farm for six and a half marks a year, to be paid to him and his heirs, 100 years ago and more. Henry begot Wischard Ledet, who took the surname of his mother, Christiana Ledet, lady of Wardon [Chipping Warden]. Wischard begot Walter Ledet. Walter begot from Ermedrua de Insula two daughters, Alice and Christiana, sisters. Alice married William le Latymer, who begot from her four sons, William, John, Thomas and Nicholas, knights. To which Nicholas Lady Alice, his mother, after the death of her husband, gave all the lands and tenements which she had in the counties of Northamptonshire and Leicestershire. Christiana married John, brother of William le Latymere the elder, who begot from her two sons, Thomas and William, knights.
